Edward, Have you checked the voltage reaching the fluorescent light? Does this happen with engine running? If the battery voltage falls below ~ 11.5V, this seems to be insufficient for the inverter circuitry (that powers the bulb) to operate. Perhaps you may have a battery problem rather than a light problem?

I have this with my Westy (replaced the standard 3-bulb unit with a fluoresecent unit) due to 2nd battery not holding charge [it works fine when the engine is running]. Mike '87 Westy
