Hello group........

I don't know if it is related but the only two times I've experienced Vanagon Syndrome has been after coasting down to the bottom of long long grades. I would hit the throttle at the bottom and nothing would happen - just sputtering. I'd pull over, stop the engine, restart and all would be OK.

FWIW - this is the only problem I've ever had with this van after four years and twenty thousand or so miles.

My "cure" has been to modulate the throttle as I coast down any long hill in my automatic '87 Westy.

I haven't experienced the syndrome since.

Markus in Pismo Beach where it's getting into the thirties at night!
