Jim,
You sure you have the current VW price list? My new VW price sheet shows
the "List Price" as $373.
You are right about that being a good price though, the best I can sell the
FTE M/C is: $108.75, the ATE is: $133.75, and the "economy" EU made M/C you
mentioned goes for: $55.86
Seems like they go up every month though, thanks to our fine U.S. Dollar...
Cheers,
Jeff

Actually, the current list price is $339.10 at the Volkswagen Dealer.
And Miguel, FTE is formally known as FAG before they merged with another
automotive group in Europe. ATE is still a separate company, both of them
being made in Germany (for the moment - a lot of ATE production has shifted
to Italy in the past several years).
The spare I have in my stash is FAG/FTE brand, which currently is the most
common available right now
VW # 251 611 021 C, FAG/FTE # H23932.12.1
$100 is an excellent price, take it and run. Airhead/VWG just got some in
today direct from FTE/FAG Europe and the best price they can do at this
moment is $139.95 thanks to the the "sucky" dollar to euro exchange.
Airhead/VWG also offers an "Economy" European made cylinder for $64.95 -
never used one, but looks awful purty - sold quite a few for the past year
or so with no comebacks.
