I used fender washer on many of the screws. Most of my broken plastic pieces broke right at the screw holes. So, I glued the pieces back together, to keep the screw holes more or less intact. The fender washers support the area, since the glue wouldn't hold the weight.

Not as good looking as Joel's solution, but quite easy to do. Maybe a temporary patch, although mine has been that way for four years.
