David, I had the same experience with a wal-mart battery. Finally bought a new one before last winter. I set up my old one as an aux battery and it's still going strong. Go figure that! John

My old battery was a measly 650 CCA from Wal-Mart and was purchased in July of 2000. Rather surprising considering how many times I killed the battery leaving the lights on, using equipment while camping etc. I figure it owes it's long life to it's location - inside the van, under the passenger seat. Nothing astounding, but thought I'd mention it. > Someday I'm going to put in an auxiliary battery, but I've been saying that for years... > David Wilhite > 84' West >
