I suggest going to Joshua Tree Nat. Park and driving as much off road as you can to really see the beauty. Also you can get on the arial tram and climb to the top of the Mt. SanJacinto peak. but they charge for that. Lots of hiking trails to go onto, and luckily it will not be too hot. You can also rent a Mt. bike and go crusing around the preserved desert areas on the fire roads. My kids enjoy going to the goodwill stores to score on what the rich people throw away. There are also some really good restaurants of all types there. Cheers, Joel
