Anyone know what model (98x) the 1989-only 911 Turbo is? Anyone know if there's an air shift kit for it? Google doesn't bring up any airshifters.I'm asking Pelican Parts,b but their site doesn't list such a product. I'm trying to work out a suitable shifter mechanism for the 1989-only G50/50 trans in my van. I have the matching 911 shifter, but if this is mounted on the floor as normal, the knob will be down below my knee. Not exactly ergonomic. If I lengthen the lever it will become floppy & flexible (like a VW van shifter) and have a huge throw; I don't want a flimsy shifter where the knob in 1st is hard up against the dashboard and in 2nd is between the front seatbacks. With such a long lever I very much doubt a shortshift lit for the 911 will make things satisfactory; for instance, the B&M 996 unit only reduces the throw by 22%. I can't mount the shifter on a raised platform because this won't work with the shifter rod to the trans. I can't use an FWD/4WD Corolla cable shifter (as I'd intended) because it doesn't have a 4th plane for reverse (bloody silly Europeans, can'd design a decent gearbox). |
