The best stuff I have found to get brake dust off of wheels (and it should work on hub cabs as well) is the Orange hand cleaner with pumice. Be gentle in rubbing it on, you don't really need any pressure at all. No scrubbing involved. I tried detergents, brake cleaner and various other car cleaners before trying the Orange Hand Cleaner with pumice. Nothing else before the hand cleaner was effective at getting the really hard stuff off. But the hand cleaner really does a nice job.
