Little hard for me to imagine having only one alternator if one owns a vanagon. i go to pick n' pull junkyards and get them for 10 bucks, try them on the van.... then you know you have a good working spare. Half the time they just need a new voltage regulator/brush package anyway. I sure would not be trusting Flaps testers very much. Scott

The tester at the FLAPS must have the correct set of jumpers for the way a Bosch alternator is set up. If it is not connected correctly to the tester, it can easily read a false good or bad for output. The person doing the hooking up must also understand the correct set-up, and have done it right. There is apparently a difference between a standard Bosch alt. and a standard Amuricin alt. Go figure....
