Are you calling the digital clock an analogue clock ?

an analogue clock would be the old fashion kind with two pointers, and knob in the middle to set the time with. There is no way such a clock can 'reset' itself. It will stop if it looses power, that's it. The digital clock 'starts over' if power is removed I believe. Like if you undo the battery. The digital clock can be hacked to work in 24 hour mode instead of 12 hour mode, btw.

Grounds always need work on 21 year old vanagons. The ground cluster thing on the left up in there is just weak. Typical vw cheap way of doing things. Electrically speaking they work amazingly well considering how cheaply vw wiring is traditionally. Scott

Not a huge problem in the grand scheme of things, but the analog clock in the instrument panel of my '86 weekender tends to reset itself many nights. I suspect a weak ground, and I will be cleaning all of these when I remove the dash (soon!) to do the front heater core, but is there some other common mechanical problem I should also consider? I ask this mainly because I think the problem started happening after I reset the clock between daylight savings and standard time this past fall. Any other diagnostic guidance to offer? Thanks...
