Well, I'd be curious about this air shift thing. But what one normally would do for your situation is change the ratio of the shifter. Like if you extend it at the bottom, so the bottom moves further for movement of the top...........you can get what you want. If you extend the part above the pivot say 16 inches sounds like it might do it, you then make the bottom longer by ...........just guessing ...............two to three inches. But it's a lever. Levers have ratios, and you just adjust things around to suit your needs. Like this..........if 20 percent longer on top is long enough, then you lengthen the bottom part 20 % also. If that doesn't make perfect sense you can pmail me if you want. Heck, make a dummy out of 1 X 2 wood and experiment around, not in the van, just on your work bench. But you want to extend both ends an equal amount, not in inches, but in percent of lengthening. Same percentage increase top and bottom. Works just like a see saw. Scott www.turbovans.com

Anyone know what model (98x) the 1989-only 911 Turbo is?

Anyone know if there's an air shift kit for it? Google doesn't bring up any airshifters.I'm asking Pelican Parts,b but their site doesn't list such a product.

I'm trying to work out a suitable shifter mechanism for the 1989-only G50/50 trans in my van. I have the matching 911 shifter, but if this is mounted on the floor as normal, the knob will be down below my knee. Not exactly ergonomic. If I lengthen the lever it will become floppy & flexible (like a VW van shifter) and have a huge throw; I don't want a flimsy shifter where the knob in 1st is hard up against the dashboard and in 2nd is between the front seatbacks.

With such a long lever I very much doubt a shortshift lit for the 911 will make things satisfactory; for instance, the B&M 996 unit only reduces the throw by 22%.

I can't mount the shifter on a raised platform because this won't work with the shifter rod to the trans.

I can't use an FWD/4WD Corolla cable shifter (as I'd intended) because it doesn't have a 4th plane for reverse (bloody silly Europeans, can'd design a decent gearbox).
