Subject: Re: bashing was: vanagon engine conversions

<So if it drives great, drive it into the ground and _then_ put the Subaru guts in!>

I've thought about that, the dilemma is when will that time come? Two years, three, five? Or a month from now?! If it's the former, then I'd just as soon sell the Subie stuff and decide what to do when the time comes, I'd rather not have the stuff sitting around taking up space in my garage. Then again, my luck I sell the Subie stuff and 2 weeks later the 2.1 sends a rod thru the block (though there is no indication it will do so, i.e. no oil light, knocking, etc). BTW, the teenager will never drive the Vanagon. She has 1974 Super Beetle convertible I bought for her when she was 5, so she has been raised as a diehard VW enthusiast, tho she doesn't like the Vanagon because it's water cooled. I won't even let my wife drive the Vanagon (not that she wants to) it's mine and mine alone. She constantly complains that her Mitsu Lancer sits out while the VW's stay in the garage. Jeff

PS- Also thinking about a Boston Bob rebuild of the 2.1 as well.
