Subject: Re: chip in windshield

It would be madness to install a used windshield (even if you did succeed in removing it from another vehicle w/out breaking it!)The only thing you can reuse is the rubber seal, but only if it is relatively new or in really good shape. As far as cost, wholesale runs around 100.00, plus mark- up and labor. If you can find a total price of 350.00, that's pretty good. This is not an expensive thing, when compared to what windshield replacement could cost on other vehicles. My wife and I have replaced a couple of these on our Vanagons and it's pretty easy. It uses the 'roped' method, I think it's called. It's very simple, though it is easier to break the glass while doing it if you are not careful. Actually, she's the expert windshield and tint girl.......I'm just the muscle (not a bad gig.) Miguel
