My cousin is a mechanic. He owns a 76 gas station and garage in Oakland. I can concur that he always get a 10% to 20% discount when purchasing parts. He gets free delivery too.

But I can concur that it is not him who hides that 10% or 20% profit in the parts. It is a practice for a parts place to give such discount as an incentive to get future business. I too can get the discount even buying from a dealer. I just need to tell the dealer that I got the discount last time. It always worked at the dealer that I went to. The discount is always like 10%.

David
