Hi, I use a Garmin Etrex HCX Color and Garmin Mapsource (MetroGuide Canada
and North America, City Select North America and (What Jerry is talking
about) Mexico GPS Atlas.
The CX is a more computer oriented machine, it can be customize and you can
play alot with it. It also as the Micro SD card slot (that i use a lot), The
car oriented one are more for the general public, or if you drive in town
alot. The only problem with the CX could be the small screen. But it's more
than fine with me, it's way way way better than the old Etrex Legend B/W.

But! you need a computer on the road to maximize this machine. Even with 1
gig of Micro SD you can not put all USA in it.

As for Mexico... well, you also need a paper map for now! Unless you use
Street & Map 2008, Jerry can tell you about our little journey AT NIGHT
around Guadalajara (second largest city in Mexico), we had no choice, we had
to get Sophie at the Airport at 8pm. The Garmin was useless but the Street &
Map was perfect. But on the small road it's still pretty good. I heard
Garmin was ready to lunch a real Mexico mapping software???

As to USA and Canada, Garmin ROCKS! Even in the most remote area.

And it's portable so it's nice for hiking, biking (motorcycle included)or
even boating.

Here, where i am right (south of Mazatlan) now,  it's working fine.

Ok, Mangrove boat tour tomorrow. Let's go see the Crocs, zillion Birds,
turtle, dolphin, snake and all the other loving animals.
