Hi Allan,

I drove 180,000 km on a non-zetec Focus wagon over 4 years. Lot of city driving, including a 25 mile commute to and from the office on stop-and-go highway. It was a great car for the first 120,000KM, but after that it started to show its age, and rode pretty rough. By the time I was done with it the dealer wanted $5K to make the front suspension right.

Never had any engine problems with it, from day 1 to the last. Other than the fuel pump, the drive train was perfect. And the fuel pump is not part of the engine.

But I wouldn't want the non-zetec engine in a van, it doesn't make enough torque to be worth the trouble.

Happy Trails,
