Not only is the depth important but so is the thickness of the surface and the depth of the center hub area. I have seen a number where the disc center springs have worn that center plate. For the most part, flywheels should only be machined once. After that they need to built back up or just replaced.

Anyone have specs (either factory or hard and fast) for the depth of a stepped flywheel--ie from the pressure plate mounting surface to friction surface? How can one determine the depth needed if confronted with a flywheel that may have been machined improperly.
