Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Volks,

I'm very pleased to announce that we have concluded our fund raising efforts for the PIFF Blue Mongrel Bus Project.

Thanks to many generous donations, and proceeds from the sale of the VW Calendars, we were able to do the following;

- Purchase a roadworthy 86 Vanagon to get her mobile again. - Send a check for $1003.81 towards the scooter lift installation and future engine transplant costs.

Additional Thanks to;

- Bill Thompson for selling us the 86 Vanagon at an incredibly reasonable price.

- For everyone who extended good wishes, inspiring words and thoughts of encouragement.

Lastly, Anna has included a personal thank you note.

From Anna:

- To all the wonderful V W people who have helped me get back on my independent feet & scooter wheels - thank you - thank you - thank you. You may or may not know how much I value this gift of both an '86 vanagon (to Bill Thompson in Salem OR: "mmm-whaaa" -xxooxx) to drive now and then use to save my camper later . . . and the PIFF funds to accomplish the mechanics later. I named the new van "Bob" because it is steely gray like my late dad's beautiful eyes. I only met him in '93, and he died so unexpectedly; yet his grace and honor live on. All along the way I have been overwhelmed by your generosity and kind words of encouragement. I am truly quite humbled. After 25 years as a nurse, and forever-ness as a single mom - I'm not used to receiving so much! Larry mentioned something about 'karma'. Maybe. I plan to drive "Bob" awhile before the transplant, and have phone quotes for about $1000 to do everything: transplant engine and assorted misc. other items Blue Mongrel needs to be whole. Someone asked me why part out a good van for the busted B.M? Since I need the extra height my Country Camper provides, and a z-bed, I need to go forward. And I was told it would be harder to put pop top & bed onto Bob, then the engine et al on B.M. What ever is left I plan to offer cheap on craigslist & elsewhere and give proceeds back to the blessed PIFF - Long may it roll!

I am deeply indebted to the thoughts, words, and deeds from the awesome people within this VW community. I thank you from the bottom of heart. God Bless and Safe Travels - anna qs
