Hi All!
Back in the late 1970s French film director Claude Lelouch mounted a film camera on the front of a Ferrari 275 and drove across Paris to create a film called "Rendez-vous". This is one of the best car films ever as it was done in one take, and the streets of Paris were not closed for the filming. In the full screen version of the film you can see pedestrians, pidgeons and other cars dodging the Ferrari. It took the Ferrari just under 9 minutes to complete the trip.....of course a Vanagon would probably take 30 minutes or more! ;-)
The following is a website which contains not only the film, but also a Google map of Paris showing the route of the movie in "real time". Enjoy! http://bhendrix.com/wall/Gmaps_GVideo_Mashup_Rendezvous.html
