Finished making and installing my BZ shelf today. Was going to make it out of baltic birch 9-ply, but found I had a rough-sawn chunk of Walnut in those EXACT dimensions. Nary a saw-cut needed. So, after a great deal of planing and sanding--it was REALLY rough--I got it done. Finished it with a hand-rubbed oil finish that's a blend of turpentine, linseed oil, and beeswax. Tom's drawing was great, and the shelf works perfectly and adds a sort of funky, woodbutcher-class to the interior. And the subtle smell of linseed oil. Mmmm. Thanks again, Tom and Mr. Squirrel, for making this available to us all! Dan 82 & 83 Westys |
