Last summer my 90' Carat only ran on Hurricane Force or not at all. It was obvious to experts the fan resistor was burned out on low speed. Some quick homework discovered the resistor was burned out, typically low since the low speed circuit is used far more often than hi, AND since when on low the resistor gets hotter than on hi where it is essentially a piece of wire. Replacing the resistor restored my fan's low speed operation, it was a fairly easy job. From the look of my old one this is a far more common problem than most folks realize, it never overheated it just went from off to hi when in traffic. The A/C sucked until the fan turned on, which was 1/4 of the time, since the A/C turns the fan on low (which did not work with the bad resistor). John Aircooled.Net Inc. |
