The Toyota Hiace and the similar Mitsibishi Delica are a nice platform. People in BC are going crazy for them since Vanagons have gotten the reputation as expensive to buy, unreliable, and expensive to maintain (unless you do the work yourself).

In Vancouver you now see many of these 15 year old Japanese vans. (easy to import 15 year old vehicles into Canada...for now)

There are almost as many of these JDM vans as Vanagons running around Vancouver and appearing at campgrounds. Most have AWD and diesel engines.....however, being true JDM vehicles with right hand drive makes them somewhat awkward to drive.
