Try to get someone to swap driving with you so you can compare notes and decide on which side it is coming from. So this in a straight line and when turning circles (both directions) in an empty parking lot.

IF it's a CV it should be louder driving one direction as opposed to the other. In my experience a failing CV tends to make clicking, clacking or clunking sounds.

My first thought would be something to do with the rear brakes if it's a scraping sound. i.e. something to do with the brake hardware dragging or rubbing on the brake drum.

Any difference when brakes applied?

When you determine which side it's coming from, jack up that side and turn the wheel by hand and listen.

Cheers,

Neil.
