>Hi Andrew, >Interesting tale, >Few of us in the states would know what a "one of those inboard-wheeled 60s >Commer vans" >is, and what are inboard wheels ? >an extra narrow track on one end, or ? >Scott

They were English tubs (sorta looked like a tub too... lots of tumblehone at the bottom), with the classic front-midengined layout adopted by the Japanese, eho retain it to this day. The track was extremely narrow... you wouldn't want to take a bend at any speed at all. They looked terrible from in front or behind... how anybody could design, let alone sell, such a blatantly unstable vehicle is alomost beyond me. If the wheels were any further inboard I'd be afraid they'd rub together! I don't have any pics, unfortunately... they were lots of them around in the 70s and early 80s, but haven't seen one for a long time. They were made in the 60s, but the latest ones were made in the 70s, with a new modern square grill with DODGE badges! -- Andrew Grebneff Dunedin New Zealand Fossil preparator Seashell, Macintosh, VW/Toyota van nut ‚ Opinions stated are mine, not those of Otago University "There is water at the bottom of the ocean" - Talking Heads
