This was kinda of done with the 67 Mustang. Dynacorp now produces a complete 67 Mustang body overseas. They also make several other bodies. They not only reproduced the body they also took and added upgrades from other years like torque boxes and some structures that were specific to the big block powered cars. They did this with the blessing from Ford though. I could never see VW getting involved with this and infact would most likely stop it from happening. For those who don't know the Mustang is a Unibody like the Vanagon. A neat product that Dynacorp makes is a Early Camaro body that can be placed on a newer Camaro frame. The looks and style of the antique car with the underpinnings of a modern nice handling car.

But I think, they have used them up already making them into some different models. Unless, there is a guy who has bought them before. I knew a few guys from the BMW group, the top brass, I played golf with them every month, and their suppliers of the dies, tools, etc. I may still find the contacts if I really search for them, but only if its worth it.
