For those live in the California Bay Area I just have to tell you What I experienced with this VW dealer today.

I went to this dealer to pick up some oil filters for my Passat. Immediately I witnessed that they will charge a higher price if you do not call to get a quote ahead of the visit. Once I showed them the price they quoted on the phone the bill is quickly reduced.

I then gave another test to the service department. They still said my Passat CV joints are not covered by VW's power train warranty despite that my owner's manual has specific words that say they are.

Last year they said my oil leak problem was under the power train warranty. Well, today they said because I did not get it done last year it may have worsened so it may not be covered any more. I have a 10 years and 100k miles power train warranty. It's not expired yet.

What I did today is to prove it again this dealership is a big a-hole. I believe this is a VW specific dealer culture to rip customers off in the Bay Area. Avoid this dealer! I am so sick of VW dealers. All the warranty is useless. You will have to fight to get coverage. I may consider to sell my Passat before its blue book value falls off the cliff. I may get an American car instead.

David
