Customarily...new parts are used only when under the factory warranty. Under the EXTENDED warranty, reman parts may be used. This is in the fine print and this is the hook that the dealer uses. The DEALER, not the factory, warrants the EXTENDED portion. FYI. Michael 91GL'Gringo'

You're right, a warranty is not meant to be a warranty: it's meant to entice people to buy the car. Like advertising, rebates, or discounted "employee pricing" sales, a warranty has a certain average cost to the company -- it's all about selling cars.

You're certain they will use reman parts for warranty work? I'd expect new factory parts, but you'll have to read the fine print. Remanufactured parts are not necessarily bad, either. Are they from Germany? They may be OK. Are they from China or India? Less certain.
