The speed range and red shift marks varied. Of the various speedos fitted on 2wd each can be used in any other 2wd, other than the 80/81 with a different cable end. Cable end at the speedo must match what the speedo needs. Given the propensity of many speedos to fail in the odometer section lots of Vanagons no longer have the original so another year or tranny model speedo may have been swapped in.
