Magnesium and aluminum are metals, not minerals. Aren’t they?

Magnesium? Aluminum?

The antifreeze has buffering additives to counter this effect. If VW specifically calls for distilled to dilute their coolant, use it. If not, I'd use good tap water if you have it, or regular bottled drinking water if not.
