A late model euro 5 speed TD westy with diesel furnace and your wheels,
is hardly comparable to an early, gasoline, westy - yours is way, way more
of a 'world class vanagon' than this one Roger. And a much better color in
my opinion, plus that special front roof thing you have .........wow.
That 27K is 'quite high' for an 84, even if it's a Wolfsburg. The engine
adds points of course being a special version of the 2.1. And I take points
off for being repainted.
Unless you spend 10 grand on a paint job, they are just never anywhere near
as good as original paint from the factory, and even then, repaints are
nearly always lacking - overspray, etc. I have seen perhaps one actually
really good re-paint job, and it was a 15K paint job, with windows, drive
train, and interior out - a whole vehicle rebuild in other words.
This 84 looks mighty fine and sharp too, and he may get close to that, or
in that ballpark of over 20K .
But with 27K to play with.............there's a lot to chose from. For the
same price I have for sale an 86 Syncro Westy, with very nicely working
Subaru conversion, and AC and big BFG AT tires on Passast 15 inch rims, and
south African headlights and grill.
For the same amount this guy is asking for a this 84 2WD Westy. That's a
very 'go westy' price on that van, but being pretty flawless
looking........could bring that kind of money, maybe.
I'm not real big on that color pattern either , but that's personal
preference.
Scott

There are two kinds of jobs in the world:
Picking up garbage and telling people things.
Successful people do both, with the same good attitude. (riw)
