I don't see where anyone has answered your question, John, so I'll first
tell you what I did.

On my '84 7 passenger, the AFM wiper track was dirty but not worn
through.  I used an eraser to clean the track (5 years ago) and it has
worked fine ever since.

Based on the materials found therein, I don't see why any kind of
electrical contact cleaner wouldn't work.
