Herculite is fine but it is a Woven scrim or Mesh. The Better is a coated Woven polyester. Still cant take on a loser with a knife but has a much better tear
and rip strength. Can also be patched with HH-66. The issue with some Herculite products is they usually dont have a UV stable pigment so they will fade.
Also instead of Sewing, the best would be Heat Sealing or Sonobonding. Both I dont do. Except on DC-9 Engine plugs.
So most things never come with a water proof statement since seams will most likely leak after having 800 plug gallons laying on top of it.
IN my Honest opinion Triton which is a 6.5 ounce woven polyester with a resin coating I think would be the nicest for easy to handle easy to fold into the
top and has a 3 year limited warranty also has a great chafe / abrasion resistance and what ever color you have on the out side it is always white on the
inside making it brighter when you have the lights on at night. Good stuff plus you dont use it for 3 years up 24-7-365 as it is.
I think Herc 80 is even Fire retardant? not looking a the catalog right now.
Sunbrella is rairly my 1st choice anymore. Unless the customer demands it I recommend a better lasting material.
