I'm in somewhat of agreement here:

NT Sucked less than Win 95/98 Win 2K Sucked less than NT Win XP Sucked less than Win 2K but overall, I'm not sure that Vista has maintained that streak.

Have to use Win XP, Slowlaris, and Linux at work.. @ home I use Mac OS X, which seems to suck even less than all of the above.

Not much in the way of spyware, malware and the like yet on Mac OS X either.

We've got 5 Macintosh computers in the house and one Dell Craptop. The dell already has a couple of issues (2 yrs old.. work provides it) but overall it's been a decent machine. Every other one I get though seems to be a 'lemon' The one prior saw a couple of mobo replacements. But.. free is free, and I'm not into subsidizing my employer just for sake of being an Apple 'fanboy'.

The iBook G3, the iMac G3 (of the same vintage) the PowerMac dual G4 and the PowerMac dual G5 and my wifes G4 Powerbook all are working without incident.

Some of the linux distributions out there are amazing, and will run on relatively old x86 hardware.

Latest toys will show up in a few months... donated money to the One Laptop per Child org. last year in their give one/get one program. The kids will each get one to play with for a bit, then they will have to give it away to someone less fortunate than them.

Next Apple computer will probably be a MacBook or MacBook pro, as I'm not doing as much video work as I used to to warrant another monster tower system.

For a home computer, I like using it for photos, video, web surfing and such. Also like having a system that has Unix as it's underpinnings.

Converted to the Macintosh in 1995, stuck with them through the 'dark years' and never missed Windows since.

Haven't really found anything I cant do on a Mac save for the Microsoft Money website (killer stock screener) and a few GPS type programs. For those Virtual PC or now VMware or Parallels (if you're on a newer X86 based Mac) seem to work just fine
