Subject: Towing a vanagon on a trailer

Just by chance I picked up an 86 Syncro in Toronto last Tuesday and hauled it north for about 3 and a half hours. Back to front or front to back is not an issue as these vans have close to 50/50 weight distribution. Just keep the C of G over the front axle or so.

We used a tandem axle trailer and a GMC 2500 diesel PU truck. You could forget that the van was back there until you looked in the mirror.

We chose nose first with two 2" ratchet belts through the cab and leading forward on the trailer. Doors close with not issue. Two 3" belts from the trailer to the rear tow hooks restraining the load.

Van never moved any part of an inch.
