Usually we sleep 4 across down below during thunder storms and I keep the top down. I use the term "sleep" loosely.

Todd Olson <todd.olson@charter.net> wrote: st1\:*{behavior:url(#default#ieooui) } Hi Clint, In 2004 during Bus Benefit there was severe thunderstorm warnings and Tornado Warnings. I and few others stayed up late kind of keeping a safe watch over what was going on. There was just crazy lightning in the sky. It gives me goose bumps thinking about how ominous that night was. When I decided to go to bed my wife and two kids were sleeping down below so I crawled up in the upper bunk. As I was getting in my sleeping bag all of a sudden I could feel my hair start to get statically charged and stand up on end. And in a split second a lighting bolt hit the tree we were camping next to. The flash was so close that I could feel the white heat through the canvas on the pop-top and it felt like I stuck my face in an oven. The rest of the night I laid there with one eye open waiting for the next crack of lightning to hit me. Sleeping on the top is not a recommended practice during a severe thunderstorm.
