Hi ! big laughs I remember now.........it was someone wrote to a magazine about if their AMC hornet I think it was, something like that had a VW engine. And there was some deal, just like the one you are talking about here, with vw engines showing up in American cars.

Back in the early 80's there was the Dodge 024, which was VW engined. A guy I worked with bought one, it was supposed to be "sporty", and I think he thought of it as his mid-life crisis "sports car". He'd had it about 2 months when I mentioned to him about it having a VW engine, to which he replied "The hell it does". We went out to the parking lot and I had him pop the hood-he nearly peed his pants when he looked at the engine!! Jeff
