The gasket for the pan is not symmetrical. There's one corner that's sharper than the others to match the pan itself. Took a little while for me to notice it.

Funny you should mention this. Got the same package from the Depot installed just last weekend.

No sealant is necessary, but pay attention to the correct torque of the 4 bolts that hold the pan in place. Also be sure that you've cleaned out any gunk around the gasket groove and the lid of the pan to ensure a good seal. And since the filter is completely bathed in tranny fluid there's no need for a gasket there anyway. For me, so far, so good; but I still have a problem with leaking at the filler tube flange.

One thing to look out for: Only upon close examination of the drawing in the Bentley's did I notice that there are 2 Philips head screws holding the filter cover in place, not just one.

Should be getting my trans filter kit from Bus Depot any day and wanted to know if any sealant is needed on either the filter or pan gasket. Thanks, Micael 91GL Auto 'Gringo'

Thanks, Michael Sullivan
