Thanks for posting the pics.
It's not quite true that it's the same vehicle with a different grill. The
material I read said a different engine and suspension tuning, and even
interior than the Chrysler version. 

AND, sadly, it looks like an overweight Honda Odyssey.........same general
shape and profile, but a little fat looking in the sides, (  so Americans
will feel more comfortable with it.) 

I think the challenge and trick is to make a design that is refreshing yet
not too different or radical.  
The shape and flavor of the  windows along the side scream 'chrysler
minivan' .............

Bottom line, I'm not inspired or moved in any way.   Try again please VW.

Or their target demographic is Americans who view a car as just another
appliance. There's no SOUL there baby, give me some Soul !  ..........some
German  Soul.   
We should swamp them in letters expressing such.  
This van so far sort of makes me a little sick.  No spunk, you know ?  And
check the ground clearance - they ain't none !   
I think they should just name it the 'Soccer Mom" anyway.    
Overall impression/reaction : ...........somewhere between 'yawn' and
'barf.'
