Allan, my '89 Wolfsburg Edition came with factory locks, but they're prone to "issues", so I eventually opted to install an aftermarket system in its place. I chose the MES setup, which utilizes Swiss-made actuators, along with a remote control system. http://www.a1electric.com/mes.htm

All of this came up to ~$120, which is not much more than a single VW actuator, so it was a killer deal. I love the setup.
