Your starter may very well be in need of replacement or rebuilding; if so, a local rebuilder may be the best value, depending on your location. Before you take such a route, however you should try disconnecting the wire that connects to the push-on terminal at the solenoid and try a jumper wire or remote starter switch between that terminal and the large positive terminal. If the starter operates reliably that way, you may have poor contact at your ignition switch or marginal wiring. A "hard start relay" is often used in these situations. Cleaning/lubing the solenoid is another step that may help. Larry A.
