You have to all but remove the carpet, Michael. It will remove with the seat in place (look under the middle seat for where the carpet is already split). I pull mine from the wall side and in front of the middle seat and lay it behind the middle seat until I make the switch then reverse the process once the middle seat is back in. Mike
