Happened to me once with a 1981 throttle froze wide open going up a long hill!!! What had happened was that one of the rubber covers had come off one of the cable connections and water had entered and then when the water froze, it grabbed the cable and froze it in place. Made for an interesting few miles to the next exit. The shaft had to be blown out and lubed and the problem never re-appeared. M

I tried to leave work last night and when I started the '87 Vanagon w/ manual trans, the pedal seemed stuck. I gave it a little more pressure and then it went to the floor. I checked the throttle at the engine and it wouldn't move. It was in the teens and single digits last night so I thought some water got in there somewhere and then froze.
