Well, how capable are you ?
I just put an 85 padded black dash into a gorgeous 'light mist green
metallic' 82 Diesel Westy < with 98 Impreza 2.2 engine >  van,
And it went it all right.
Mostly mechanical work,. Lot of screws and stuff, but not rocket science.
I think I used the two brackets that go alongside the master cylinder from
an 85 rather than the 82 ones.........they seemed to fit better.
But mostly it's nut and bolt work.
I wonder if anyone will see this note and get anything out of it.

I've got an '82 Vanagon with a dash that's trashed and am considering
transfering another dash from another Van to it.

Is this is a good idea?  Is it a DIY or must I hire it out?
If I do it, should I expect it to be apples to apples or will it involve
lots of surprises if I don't buy another dash from an '82 Vanagon.
