Janet,

You can do what I did on my '88 Wolfsburg (per the advice of some of the list veterans) and disconnect the autolocks by pulling the fuse above your primary set of fuses (I think it was a 10 amp one if I recall). Mine were going crazy too, probably due to a broken connection wire in the rubber tube that houses wires in the door, at least that is my best guess. I can't say that I miss the auto function in the least, and until it gets warmer...I'm not even thinking about fixing it.

My personal thought is that a system like this isn't the best anyway. When you open the driver's door, all the locks come up....not all that safe if you were to be in a dark parking lot - that's why current systems allow the owner to click once and just open the driver's door...then twice to open all doors. I believe you can retro fit these systems on your locks if you ever wanted to. Something to think about (I believe you would have to get your wire/connection problem fixed first though...but others would know better). Given how many more times you open and close your driver's side door, I'd bet that is a good place to start if you want to fix it rather than take the easy way out that I opted for.

-Ben
