Also check the condition of the rear cables and sheaths. If the outer jacket
is showing any signs of rusting thruogh or collapsing, they may be hanging
up internally. Whenver doing brake wor, disconect the rear cables at both
ends and test for free movement. If thewy do not slide freely, it is time
for replacement. Also, proper adjustment of the cbales is done with the
drums off so you can see the lever position. You just want to take up the
slack so the front edge of the lever just touches the push bar. This done,
the normal adjuster bar will take care of the rest. Proper adjustment would
be 3-4 clicks for the shoes to drag and 8 for locking up. You do not want
them to drag at all.
