Guys, For those of you that may deal with other VW's, I just bought an 88' Cabriolet and would like to ask some newbie questions, so please pmail me if you've got some info. As the car has been sitting for at least a year, I don't have a clue as to whether or not it runs, or how it'll look after I get all the leaves and mold off of the car and get the inside cleaned out. The only place I have found rust, is on the rear hatch, which I presume occurred because water wasn't able to drain out of the door because the plugs were in (kind of like our Vanagon hatches). I haven't been able to find any in the floor boards or in the trunk area, so maybe it won't be in too bad of condition overall. Anyway, to keep it short, here's my questions. Should I follow any special procedure before attempting to start it, other than pulling the plugs and making sure the engine rotates okay? FWIW, it appears to have brand new oil in it. Are there any groups as good as this one, when it comes to these cars? Good places for parts? Any repair manuals as good or better than Bentley? Thanks, David Wilhite 84' Westy Middle TN |
