I can highly recommend Thomas Hann (HA Projekt).

He's been doing diesel conversions and new product development for a long
time.  I've been to both his place and to Bernd Jaeger's, and I would take
my vehicle to Thomas for any conversion work.  Not that Jaeger is a poor
choice, I just prefered the way that Thomas does business.

He can even set you up with a Tiptronic transmission...  or a V6 TDi...
Lots 'o Euros...

With a VW 1.9 TDi, I'll hope that it's plug-n-play anywhere in the world.
I'm still planning on having someone in Europe do the conversion (gas to
diesel) this fall.

Do you know of anyone to recommend other than Bernd Jeager in Germany?
