Years ago, I had a CV come apart on my 69 Beetle. Didn't torque the CV bolts right.

("knocks on wood") That ain't happening again!

As a novice I found it useful (peace of mind most likely) to look for signs of galling etc. on the parts when I did the CV replacement.
