I use an electic water pump on my 65 Mustang along with an electric fan. I just upgraded the alternator to handle the bigger load. I also run a bigger battery so I can let the pump and fan run after blast down the track. I have some video on you tube with me lifting the front end of the ground I'll have to look for the link. My 66 that I am building will have no alternator and the battery will be charged inbetween runs....

One could replace the alternator with a generator and belt it to the water pump. Then you could "motor" the generator to turn the water pump. An electric clutch, such as used on the A/C compressor, could be used to connect them to the engine when the generator is needed to produce current. Ken Lewis http://neksiwel.20m.com/
