Thanks again Scott.
I saw your earlier post and replied to it. :)
I get what you're saying regarding the gas tank as an example of not
'putting myself in a corner'. It's a good point. I get it. Just
apprehensive about the gas can thing. Albeit it would only be used to
drive it down the driveway, turn around, then back it into the carport
so I can work on the arse end of it.
Yup this Jetta ABA has the oil cooler. I have stripped some stuff off
the Jetta engine coolant pump, seals, belts, as I'll be replacing
them. I saw the small hose to the oil cooler. It will stay as will the
other will too. It appears I have all the needed Jetta coolant hoses.
For sure I won't alter what has been established through $$$ spent by
VW. It should all work out fine.
My plan all along was to adapt the Vanagon rad, heater core, to the
Jetta cooling system. I see this hybrid cooling system (not including
electricals)basically as a Jetta engine with a bigger rad and heater
core.
Thanks again. I really appreciate the help/insight. It is proving to
be a great project in many ways. It is stretching my mind to "see" how
the parts "go together", and is refuelling other parts of my mind that
have been a little dormant. All good.
I would be happy to show this conversion to any and all when she's
done. Hopefully that will be before the end of March. I wanna actually
use this Westy to go camping! --- :^)
